Need an Idea for an E-book?

Need an Idea for an E-book?
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

You’ve probably heard about e-books—they’re everywhere on the Internet, and it seems like everyone is writing them. You’ve probably even thought about writing one yourself. But, what to write about? You need some e-book ideas.

First, e-books are electronic books that are downloaded and saved onto your computer. Some e-books must be purchased, and some are even free. You can read them directly from your computer, or print them out to read at any time. The intriguing thing about e-books is that you can cut out most all of the middle men (agents, publishers, wholesalers) and take care of all the work yourself (writing, editing, formatting, copywriting, and selling). E-books are a great idea for those of you who want to be more independent in your success. Plus, by using e-books, your success can come much quicker than with a traditional print book.

Now that that’s cleared up, let’s start thinking about some e-book ideas.
You may already know what you want to write about—great! But make sure it’s a topic that people are going to be interested in reading. Otherwise, don’t expect big sales. Whether you know what you want to write about or you simply know you want to write, when thinking about good, profitable e-book ideas, check to see if your topic is one that is in demand. A couple of good tools for this in Online Gold Finder and NicheTopics.

When thinking about e-book ideas, remember to also consider your knowledge of the topics. The phrase “write what you know” applies to e-book ideas just as it applies to all writing. Write about something you know a good deal about and about something that people want to know a good deal about. See the connection? Also, do a little research as to how much information already exists on your topic. If you know a good deal about both the circus and underwater basket weaving, and find that there is a demand for information on both topics, look around to see which topic already has the most information out there. If there are 100 e-books already in circulation about the circus, but only 8 about underwater basket weaving, consider underwater basket weaving as one of your e-book ideas. There is both an interest and a demand.

Submit Your Articles and Increase Website Traffic

Submit Your Articles and Increase Website Traffic

http://www.ArticleShowroom.com

If you are trying to find an inexpensive, yet effective way to promote your website and business, whether it is online or not, you should consider an article directory submission. An article directory submission is a chance for you to write an article about a topic relevant to your website and business, rich in keywords, and get the link to your website out there for potential viewers and customers to see.

Before you start looking for websites that offer article submissions, make sure that your article is ready. Aside from keywords, make sure that your article is formatted correctly, your grammar (spelling, punctuation, word usage, etc.) is correct, it is the appropriate length (generally 250-500 words—if it is longer, try dividing it into different articles), and that it offers useful, organized information.

After you have proofed and edited your article, write a brief summary for your article to present with your article directory submission and prepare a resource box. A resource box is what is going to get the traffic for your own website. Keep it short and include the most important information—your name, title, business, a catchy tagline and the main address for your website.

Once you have that taken care of, start searching for websites that will allow you to make an article directory submission.

A few good ones to get you started are

ArticleShowroom.com ( http://www.ArticleShowroom.com ),

JustArticlesOnline.com (http://www.JustArticlesOnline.com),

BellaOnline (http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art12838.asp),

and Ezine Articles (http://ezinearticles.com).

Each website may have its own rules, regulations, and requirements, so be sure to read up on all their information regarding submissions.

People are always looking for content for their websites, so by using an article directory submission, your article is sure to be read, thus your website traffic and sales will increase. Write your article, prepare it for submission, submit it to the best sites for your website, and watch the your website traffic and sales skyrocket.

Advertising Your Website With Pay-Per-Click

Advertising Your Website With Pay-Per-Click
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

A thriving way to help optimize your online image is to consider using the pay-per-click advertising. What pay-per-click means is that you purchase sponsored links on the pages of search engine results. Search engines are used every minute of the day, which means advertising your website with pay-per-click will greatly increase the advertising of your website.

By advertising your website with pay-per-click, you are helping to advertise your business in what is usually an inexpensive way that is growing larger and reaching more people everyday. You can also tailor your pay-per-click advertising to fit your business or company budget needs. This is a plus for those of you who are starting out on a budget and want to stay away from paying a lot for advertising that may or may not be seen. By advertising your website with pay-per-click, your ad is surely going to be seen. More advantages to advertising your website with pay-per-click include the speed of advertising, the increase in traffic to your website, and the ability to research and compare data to see what works best for your website.

There are times, however, when advertising your website with pay-per-click can prove to be costly. For example, it will cost you more to use competitive keywords than it will to use that are not as competitive. Finely tune your keyword strategies. You can find information on the Internet on this or you might want to consider consulting a professional. Also remember not to bite off more than you can chew. Start with one pay-per-click provider first, using ads you have tested, and then extend your campaign accordingly.

Advertising your website with pay-per-click can be a very quick, inexpensive way to get your website and business rolling. Drawbacks can always pop up, but if you educate and prepare yourself, you will be able to make the most out of advertising your website with pay-per-click.

http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

Want to start supplementing your income by making money online? One of the hottest new methods for making money online is blogging. Web logs, or blogging, began as a way for people to share their journals or opinions with friends and family. Now it has exploded into a global craze that is enabling many people to begin making money online.

The most common method of making money online from your blog is advertising. A blog that generates a lot of traffic gets noticed by advertisers or online advertising services like AdSense or Blogads. You start making money online by how many times these ads are clicked on from your blog.

Many companies are now getting into the blog craze and with that comes an opportunity for making money online. More and more people are making money online by becoming the outsourced writer for a company blog.

Some entrepreneurial bloggers have started making money online from digital assets. They have added e-books or started offering seminars on their blog. These digital assets are making money online on top of the advertising income where these blogs are already making money online.

Another great method of making money online is from affiliate programs. A lot of the big internet companies like Amazon are always looking to link to blogs where content is similar to their product. These links become a great source for making money online.

The final way of making money online we will discuss here today is the old standard of merchandising. If the movies and television can make money from t-shirts and coffee mugs why can’t you be making money online from it as well?

Google AdSense 101

Google AdSense 101
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

You’ve heard about Google AdSense, but how does it work? Can you really make money by just allowing Google to place ads on your website? And if so, how much money can you make? The following are the most informational Google AdSense basics to know.

You must first have a website before you can apply for a Google Adsense account and start profiting from Google AdSense. You are more likely to be rejected if you use a free domain, so invest in your own domain. And make sure that your website makes sense; that may sound obvious, but if you are running a website that is disorganized with random content scattered all over the place, you will not be viewed as professional and will most likely be rejected.

Once your site has been accepted, Google will give you code to paste on your site, thus enabling them to start placing ads on your site that are relevant to the content of your site. For example, if your website is about creating scrapbooks, Google might place ads on your site dealing with places to purchase scrapbook materials.

Now, what about making money? Google makes money by advertising. So, by placing ads on your site, you are helping them to advertise by providing them with a place to display their ads. Every time a visitor to your site clicks on one of the ads that Google has placed on your site, you receive a certain percent of the money. It’s a win/win situation. Google AdSense allows you to view your account and earnings information at any time, and once a month you will receive a check for the amount of money you earned.

Of course, these are just the Google AdSense basics, and more detailed information can be found at the AdSense webpage.

So, if you’re dedicated to the website you operate, why not make an extra profit from it as well? Or, maybe you’re looking for a way to make some extra cash on the side and are interested in a subject enough to create a website for it. Either way, consider these Google AdSense basics and check into opening a Google AdSense account of your own.

Two Solid Suggestions to Earn Extra Money Online

Two Solid Suggestions to Earn Extra Money Online
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

There are many ways to earn extra money online. Don’t worry, though, this article isn’t about to suggest you start buying into those too-good-to-be-true internet scams that promise you the world and deliver nothing but snake oil. These suggestions to earn extra money are legitimate and proven.

The first way to earn extra money online is to participate in affiliate advertising or banner exchange programs. One of the most popular of these programs is Google AdSense, which has definitely helped people all over the world using the websites and blogs they are maintaining anyway to earn extra money. How this works is that you sign up as a member of one of these programs, then insert a few simple lines of code into your web space. The program does the rest by placing ads on your web space that are directly related to the content in your site. Your visitors are seeing ads that are relevant to their interests and every single time they click, you earn extra money. This method is only hugely profitable for very high traffic sites, but even if you earn extra money in very small amounts, considering there is absolutely no start-up cost to you, this is still an excellent method to earn extra money.

You might also consider a retail or sales affiliate program to earn extra money through your website. In this scenario, you select products and services from your host that are relevant to your site visitors and then every time the click from your site results in a sale, you get a cut. Once again, this typically requires no upfront participation costs from you, even though the return is relatively small, it is still a reliable and legitimate way to earn extra money with your web space.

Although there is no guarantee of being able to support yourself or a full time income from these methods to earn extra money, they are free to try and worth a shot for most people. And you never know with a little hard work you could be making money while you sleep.

Avoiding Work at Home Employment Scams

Avoiding Work at Home Employment Scams
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

This article is not aimed at discouraging people from starting Home based business through the Internet, but to guide the people about the Business opportunities available on the net that are bogus and illegitimate. These are more popularly termed as Scams. There are numerous opportunities available on the Internet for starting a home-based business successfully. Some of these opportunities are really success oriented. However all these business strategies require hard work and dedication besides thorough knowledge about the market.

Some of these opportunities are quick and easy way of making money. Before getting involved into any business opportunity through the Internet, people must make themselves cautioned against the fraudulent scams. They should not get carried away by people who try to fool others using fake testimonials, documents, guarantee cards, and offering huge income potentials in short period of time.

There are many reliable work at home jobs on the Internet. These jobs do not claim to give easy money in short period of time. These jobs are based on hard work and open-minded communication between the employers and trusted employees through telecommuting. These jobs are more or less similar to the regular jobs in many ways. The employee must first qualify for the job that is offered. He must then develop trust with the employer through dedicated work. Most of these telecommuting jobs are treated as part time opportunities. Another way of working on the Internet is to work as freelancer or on independent contract. You can work as article writer, consultant, editor, designer and numerous other ways. With all these type of opportunities the risk of getting involved in scams is less.

The Internet business opportunity scams are more common in sales endeavors. The scrupulous people who run the Internet scams are always on the look out for a naïve wishful and desperate surfer. Many homemakers, and elderly people become a prey under these scams. Before getting it to any business option, people must get a thorough knowledge about these scams. They can get all the necessary information from the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission. These organizations help you to keep away from the Internet based scams and also help to verify the offers on the net and file complaints if necessary. Another way to avoid scams is to start up the home based business after getting the necessary information from the Small business Administration.

It is essential for people to come forward and report the scams however small be the money involved. Scams have proliferated through Internet because of the access to millions of customers. The most commonplace for Internet scams is through the auction sites. Fraudulent merchandise sales sites are on the rise. The scammers try to allure customers by offering hard to find goods such as electronic gadgets. Thousand of shoppers who whisk their money have never received their goods. The people are advised to be skeptical of sites, which offer the goods at incredibly low prices.

Internet Money For Stay at Home Moms

Internet Money For Stay at Home Moms
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

It is difficult to give your child enough attention when working a full time job. This is the reason that so many mothers choose to work at home. They want to establish some type of financial standings while still being able to watch over their children. Making money online can be a great idea for stay at home moms. It provides a flexible schedule as well as the benefit of little commuting. Some examples of great ways to make money online are: owning a home business, completing surveys, freelancing, and reading emails. Providing mothers with the best ways to make an income online, these opportunities put money into moms' pockets.

Owning an online business can be difficult, but if a person is dedicated it can be very beneficial. Even though these businesses are not an easy task, they will still provide moms enough time with their children. There are many businesses to choose from. Some of the businesses require a fee to provide you with a product to sell. Others, such as SFI, will provide products and a website for free.

Completing surveys gives mothers total freedom. Because surveys are taken only when one agrees to take them, they are perfect for moms who children need constant care. The amount of money earned from surveys depends on how many surveys a person is willing to answer. A mom can earn from $25 to $600 a month from answering surveys.

Freelancing is a broad way to make money online. Freelancers are hired on to a company as a contractor. In many cases freelancing allows one to earn money for what he/she loves. One example is a mother who loves to write. There are many online opportunities for writing. The mother may start a blog or write articles on parenting. She may even put her creative writing skills to the test by writing short stories. There are other freelancing prospects such as cartooning, web design, consulting, data entry, and desktop publishing. The list of freelance jobs is abundant.

The popularity of reading emails is rising higher each day. While this is not a great way to earn large amounts of money, it is an excellent way to earn a few extra dollars. Reading emails is a fairly easy way for stay at home moms to earn money. Emails are sent to the email address that is set up with the program. Money, which is stored to an account, is paid to the person who reads the email. Most of the programs have a minimum payout. The company will only pay a person once the minimum has been reached. One should have a separate email address just for the purpose of the emails. One can use the same email address, but it is not recommended since so many emails will be sent.

Choosing An E-commerce package for Your Home Business

Choosing An E-commerce package for Your Home Business

http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

What's the Right E-commerce Package for Your Business?

Recovering from the dot com crash in 2000, e-commerce is rising once again. Stay in the comfort of your home. Spend more time with your family. Be your own boss. The benefits of having a home business are numerous. That is why so many people are trying to run their own home business. Being enthusiastic about igniting their own income through the Internet, these people search to find how they can create their own business. When it comes to e-commerce packages, most online merchants have the same basic needs. The trick is to make sure an e-commerce package satisfies your needs. Causing less frustration, you should also try to find something that will be easy to use.

Some important things to look for in an e-commerce package are:

1. Choose a provider that will give you a site and hosting combo.

Choosing a provider that helps you set up a site and hosts it for you can save you from a lot of frustration. By choosing a website and hosting combination, you are guaranteed that your e-commerce package will not have to be manually altered.

2. A wide variety of templates

While all templates can be customized, sometimes that just does not work for every business. If there is a large amount of templates to choose from, there is bound to be template for your business.

3. Payments

You need to make sure that the payment options that your e-commerce package uses will satisfy your customers needs. For example if your e-commerce package only accepts PayPal, you will miss out on the customers that do not use PayPal. This will decrease your earnings.

4. Shopping Cart

Most people like to see what they are purchasing. Customers may also want to change what they want to buy. Perhaps they found something better.

5. Calculation of tax and shipping

While most customers probably will not be shopping from your state, tax is not a major problem. Shipping is a different matter. Shipping must be calculated for all customers. Customers also want to see what their shipping costs will be.

6. Reports

While reports are not beneficial to customers, they are beneficial for you. E-commerce packages that offer reports help you keep track of your expenses and earnings. They save a lot of frustration.

SEO Keyword Articles, A Great Home Business Writing Opportunity To Make Real Cash

SEO Keyword Articles, A Great Home Business Writing Opportunity To Make Real Cash
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

For every successful freelance writer who is living the dream by writing for Rolling Stone, Newsweek or Cosmopolitan, there are a thousand others who come up against rejection after rejection and start to lose faith that they will ever make money from their craft. It’s easy to get discouraged that your writing will never get you anywhere, but there is one very good home business writing opportunity you have probably either overlooked or never considered that will generate real, tangible income for you from writing even if it doesn’t happen to be glamorous or prestigious like writing for a major national magazine.

This home business writing opportunity is in the area of search engine optimized keyword articles. The market for search engine optimized (SEO) keyword article writers has exploded over the last two years. Essentially, business owners and cyber entrepreneurs have caught on to the fact that the success or failure of their business often relies directly on the levels of website traffic they get and their conversion rates from this website traffic. Therefore, it is in their best interests to generate relevant website traffic while providing content that will actually relate to their visitors.

This is where SEO keyword articles and your home business writing opportunity come into play. Businesses who want more traffic through search engine clicks hire writers like you to produce relevant articles laden with common search phrases and word combinations relevant to their business. They post the articles on their websites and then every time someone searches for these phrases, your article on their website comes up. This helps draw more traffic and potential customers to their website.

Make no mistake – becoming an SEO writer is a real way to make money as a home business writing opportunity. The work is plentiful, if not hugely fascinating, and the pay is steady, if not fantastic. You may not be writing for Rolling Stone, but by taking advantage of this home business writing opportunity, you can start to see a real income from your writing which is more than many freelance writers are able to say.

Writing For Cash – Real Opportunities

Writing For Cash – Real Opportunities
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

There is money to made writing for cash, especially on the Internet. One of the best opportunities to make money writing for cash is in the field of search engine optimized keyword articles. Over the last two years, this industry has exploded into a market worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for enterprising freelance writers.

Basically, this writing for cash opportunity works as follows. Businesses want to attract as many visitors to their websites as possible, and the top way to draw visitors who wouldn’t otherwise come is through web searches. These companies hire writers or an article provider that commissions writers to write short articles containing common keyword phrases that are related to their business. When the company posts these articles on their website, anyone searching for these keyword phrases with search engines like Google end up seeing the business’s web page at the top of their search results. This increases the chances that people will click into their website.

Search engine optimized keyword articles are a great way to earn money writing for cash because the work is steady and usually very easy for experienced writers. There is also a lot of demand. On the down side, this writing for cash option can often be very tedious and the per word pay is extremely low. However, once you get the hang on it and can start producing quickly, the per hour rate is dependent on how fast you as an individual writer produce and can be pretty decent.

Writing for cash with these types of opportunities is by no means the road to fame and fortune as a writer. However, if you wish to put your writing talents and abilities to use and make real money writing for cash, getting involved with search engine optimized keyword articles is a great way to bring in some extra cash.

Fast Money Online

Fast Money Online
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

Fast money online might be an oxymoron. Sure, some have made a fortune from the Internet but the average person probably will not. You can make some money on the Internet if you keep focused and work steadily. Just like any home based business, it takes perseverance and diligence to bring in the extra income you are looking for.

Many programs on the Internet promise you big money for just a little effort. These are not always what they seem so be prepared to research carefully any programs that promise something for nothing.

You can make money on-line in many different ways; some don't take much effort on your part, but remember you get what you put into it.

Affiliate marketing is a way to make some extra cash from your website. You are partnering with someone else to sell their goods from your website. You receive a portion of the proceedings from each sale that is created from your website.

Another way to receive revenue from your website with little effort is to add advertising. Banner ads can bring you income from both the business that is generated from the advertisement and a click through rate based on how many "click" through to the advertised site.

One of the best ways to make fast money online is to sell items on any of the auction sites. There are a few you can look at; one of the biggest is eBay. It doesn't take a long time to set up an account and you can start making money immediately.

Other methods of making money online are:

1. Start a referral system.
2. Connective employers with possible new employees.
3. Write weblogs.
4. Take surveys.

Diligent research and steadily working on it can make you a good second income. Find what you are best suited for and run with the idea!

Instant Article Submitter review

About 2 weeks ago I tried a new program called Instant Article Submitter. This program will help you easily distribute your articles to over 200 different websites and directories (it's semi-automated).

On the software's website there are some amazing screenshots that show how the creators used the software and then the following days their article appeared on hundreds of websites all over the internet.

I was so impressed by these screenshots that I decided that I wanted to perform this kind of a test myself.

I was actually working on an article that I was writing for my new article directory: ArticleShowroom.com - So I just finished the article and set the setting of the program to fit my new article.

They have a special "sign-up manager" that you can use to easily sign up for all the directories. I would recommend that you go to "Settings" and fill out those forms so the program can automatically fill out the sign up boxes for you - This saves you a lot of time.

Also, the default category option saved me a lot of time. Because there are over 200 websites each site has a different set of categories - You should just try to find the category that best fits your article/market.

Well, I had filled out all the forms and signed up for all the websites that required you to log in (there are about 100 of them). Then on April 30th, 2006 at 23:01 I pressed the "Start" button. At that time a search on Google for "Get More Traffic, Sales and Subscribers By Submitting Your Articles to Directories" gave me 0 results:

Google results before using the Instant Article Submitter software

Then I just went on to do something else and let the program run -- Although you shouldn't have to do anything while the program is working I would check in every few minutes to see if everything is running alright - some sites have errors and the program might get stuck in a loop. If the program stops at a site for a long time (a few minutes) you might want to click "Stop", go to "Sites" and uncheck all the sites that you've already successfully submitted your article and then start again. You might also need to input verification codes on some sites.

About an hour later the program had submitted my article to 202 different sites (I was unable to sign up to 4 of the websites in the signup tool).

When the software is done submitting your article you'll get a report where you see if the article was successfully submitted or not. You can even click the "View" link to see the final webpage on each website - that can give you an idea what went wrong if the article wasn't submitted to that site.

The next few days I noticed Google picking up more and more webpages mentioning my article. 3 days after using Instant Article Submitter Google returned 91 results when searching for "Get More Traffic, Sales and Subscribers By Submitting Your Articles to Directories":

3 days after using Instant Article Submitter

On the 6th day Google had found 637 pages mentioning my article:

Reviewing the Instant Article Submitter after 6 days

Then, 9 days after submitting my article Google returned 941 results when searching for my article:

Review of the results 9 days after using the Instant Article Submitter program

That's almost 1000 webpages mentioning my article, my name, my website - and a TON of new one-way incoming links to my site!

Update (25.5.2006): Right now, when I put "Get More Traffic, Sales and Subscribers By Submitting Your Articles to Directories" into Google I get 21,400 results! This might just be temporary - but Google doesn't lie, right? ;)

If you compare my results with the screenshots on the official website you will see that I actually did better than them ;) Click here to compare

So, I have to say that Instant Article Submitter worked REALLY well. I'm definitely going to use it again and again every time I write a new article.

Well, it took some time to sign up for all these websites but I don't have to do that again - now I can use Instant Article Submitter over and over again with the same login information.

When you get Instant Article Submitter you also get another cool software called Instant Article Creator which can help you write your article if you're not used to writing articles. It'll take you step-by-step through every part of the article so you'll end up with a great article that will get read - and when your article gets read you'll most likely get a decent amount of clicks on the link in your resource box.

Rod Beckwith and Jeff Alderson (the creators of Instant Article Submitter) have actually thought of everything. If you're completely new to article marketing you'll find their article guide come in handy. It's called "Speed Article Writing - How To Start Kicking-Out Killer Articles In 45-Minutes Flat... Even If You Flunked High-School English!" - and you get it as a bonus when you get yourself a copy of Instant Article Submitter.

Right now the price is $97 which I think is almost too low when you think about the several hours you'll save for each article you submit with Instant Article Submitter - and if you are used to submitting a lot of articles to a lot of websites this tool will pay for itself in no time.

Well, I think this is a great software that is going to save me a lot of time and I'm going to use it again and again. Check out my full testimonial on the website:
http://www.workathomemadeeasy.net/recommended/submitarticles.html
Note that the site might take a while to load because it's filled with those impressive screenshots.

ArticleShowroom.com just got a new logo

A couple of weeks ago when I was reading posts on the warrior forum I noticed a link in one of the signatures that was offering original logos for $10. I thought that was pretty cool, and cheap - so I checked it out.

The day before yesterday I decided to order a logo for my new article directory - and 40 hours later they sent me this great looking logo:

Article Showroom_Medium.jpg

I gave them some instructions on what I was looking for in the logo and they got everything right. For such a low price ($10 + PayPal fees = total $10.99) and in such a short time I think this is an excellent service.

They even gave me a PSD (Adobe Photoshop) file so I could edit the logo a little bit (resize, etc.)

The site is called Ten Dollar Logo and I believe they're from Brazil: http://www.tendollarlogo.com/

I think this logo makes my article directory a little more unique from all the other article directories out there - and that is always a good thing.

I might buy some more logos from them again pretty soon ;)

You want better traffic, not more traffic

I have Seth Godin's RSS feed in my Firefox bookmarks and today I saw an interesting headline: Different kinds of traffic.

There, Seth talks about how the amount of website traffic you're getting isn't everything - and I totally agree with him. It's all about quality - not quantity! You want targeted visitors that will actually buy your product - or at least sign up for your newsletter, mini-course, etc.

You must optimize every one of your webpages so they bring you the results you want with the traffic you're already getting. When you're seeing satisfying results you just have to find out how to get more of that quality traffic.

Related tools and resources:
TrafficSwarm - excellent traffic exchange where you can get free traffic - and the best thing is you can target your ads so only people interested in your offer will see it.
AdTrackz - the ad tracking script I use to see where my sales are coming from so I can focus on what is working and dump what is not.
Keyword Elite - the tool that I use to see what people are looking for, how many people are looking for it, etc. so I can deliver the content my market is looking for.
StatCounter - the web tracker I use on all my websites to see how many visitors I'm getting, where they're coming from, what keywords they used in the search engines...

Introducing: ArticleShowroom.com - the latest and greatest article directory

I recently opened up a new website: www.ArticleShowroom.com
It's an article directory for all kind of topics, from Hollywood Celebrities and the Stock Market to Pregnancy and Elderly Care.

If you're into article marketing you're welcome to submit your articles - and if you haven't yet tried article marketing this is the perfect time to start and get some extra traffic to your websites. Because when you submit your article to directories you can include a resource box that has a link to your website.

Also, if you're trying to make money with Google AdSense you're probably always looking for fresh content, right? Well, feel free to browse through the articles available. Just remember that if you want to reprint any of the articles you must keep the article intact and include the "About The Author" part.

Well, head over to ArticleShowroom.com and add your articles!

Home Business Tax Deductions

Home Business Tax Deductions
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

If you are running a home business, it is important to remember that there are tax deductions for you when tax season rolls around. Of course, you do not want to try to fool the IRS (no one wants to run the risk of being audited!), but you do want to take advantage of those deductions that are rightfully yours. Running your own home business takes much of the same expenses, effort, time, space, equipment, and travel as any other business. Below are some home business tax deductions to remember as April is drawing near.

If you have a home office that is dedicated solely to your home business, you can add it to your list of home business deductions. The same goes for telephone charges, office supplies, furniture, software, subscriptions, and other equipment. Do not fear an audit for making these home business tax deductions as long as these items are used exclusively for your home business.

If your business requires you to leave your home office, you can add the cost of travel, mileage, meals, entertainment, and anything else that goes along with the cost of living on the road to your home business tax deductions. During the year, make sure you keep documentation of your mileage, your trips, food, etc.

Now, what about the really big stuff? Well, when making home business tax deductions, you can also take into consideration insurance premiums (if you are self-employed and pay for your own insurance), the money you deduct for retirement, and half of what you pay towards your social security. And if your children are seventeen or younger and are working for you, you can deduct their salaries as business expenses.

This is just a quick scan of the home business tax deductions you can take advantage of.

Do You Want Free Money?

Do You Want Free Money?
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

It probably did not take you more than a second to answer that question—YES! We all want free money, don’t we? But how can we get free money?

Well, if you are looking for free money to use for college and university tuition and fees, you are more likely to find it than those of us who are just looking for free money. Check out websites and programs such as FAFSA and GovernmentGrants.com to find free grant money. You can also check out websites and programs such as FreeCollegeScholarships.net, FastWeb.com, and FedMoney.org that offer free money in the form of scholarships. The great thing about these options is that you are almost guaranteed to get some amount, even if it is not as high as you would like, of free money to use towards your college or university tuition and fees. All you have to do is fill out an application, maybe write an essay or two, and wait.

Now, for the rest of us, free money likely does not exist. There are programs, however, that claim to give you free opportunities to make money such as reading emails or advertisements, taking surveys, downloading a certain tool bar onto your browser, etc. For websites and programs like that check out CashFiesta, FreeCenter.com, and AbsolutelyFreebies.com. However, some websites like these require that you pay a registration or startup fee (low, albeit, but still, that is not free, is it?) or fill out all kinds of applications such as for credit cards which can lead to unwanted credit cards, spam in your email, junk in your snail mail, and all kinds of other inconveniences.

So, for those of us not trying to find free money to use for college and university tuition and fees, finding free money is going to be a little more difficult.

You might want to try out getting paid doing surveys online:

Need a Free Website Promotion Tool?

Need a Free Website Promotion Tool?
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

If you are looking for an inexpensive (think free) way to promote your website and your business, thus increase traffic and sales, consider promoting your website with keyword articles.

By promoting your website with keyword articles, you can get the link, or address, to your website circulating the Internet very quickly—in places where the content is relevant to your website! It’s simple—perform a search for sites that accept articles for free and make sure these sites will offer a live link back to your website. Choose the sites that accept articles that will be related to your own website. A good place to start is FreeSticky (www.freesticky.com), which offers a chance to submit articles, use their articles as content for your website, and advertise with them; however, you will find many other sites that accept articles. Browse through them and find the ones which accept articles that best relate to the content of your website.

Next, get started writing your articles. Make sure they are rich with keywords that are relevant to not only the topic, but your website as well. Do not worry about writing tons of articles at first—you can write one article and submit the same one to several different sites that accept articles. Once you get the hang of it, you can write more articles and branch out with different—yet pertinent—topics. Remember, you can send your articles to various different websites, thus getting use out of each article more than once.

Promoting your website with keyword articles is inexpensive, quick and easy, especially if you enjoy writing. Everyone needs content for their websites, and many people use free content articles just for that purpose. Check into sites that accept articles about topics relevant to your website, write your articles, submit them, and wait for the traffic and sales of your website to increase.

The Key to Your Website’s Success

The Key to Your Website’s Success
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

You’ve finished your website. Whether it’s dedicated to your home business or your favorite rock band, it’s complete and you’re rather proud of it. It’s informational, user friendly, and aesthetically pleasing. You’ve even peppered your website with the appropriate keywords to help attract visitors. Your next task is promoting your website.

Promoting your website may seem like a daunting task at first. You expect the traffic to just roll in; after all, who wouldn’t want to read all the wonderful things you have to say, or take advantage of all the awesome services you can provide? However, there are millions of websites out there, so effectively promoting your website is a key part in its success.

There are many websites out there that will help in promoting your website for a fee. Yet, there are also many ways you can promote your website yourself for free. Do you send out a lot of emails, or belong to several web forums and discussion groups? If so, consider developing a signature file. This short tag at the end of your letter or post can contain business and contact information such as your name, your business name, your telephone and/or fax number, and your website address. You can even include a catch phrase to lure people into visiting your website.

Look into submitting your website to all the major search engines, such as Yahoo! and Google. There are also free websites out there that help you in promoting your website for free, such as Website Launch Pad (http://www.graphicsforums.com/LaunchPad/launch.asp). Also, consider adding a blog to your website and submitting your address to blog search sites and directories as well as creating RSS feeds. Visit http://www.guidetorss.com for a list of websites and RSS directories to help you in submitting your blog. If you comment often on another blog, make sure to include your signature file at the end. Other readers will see your website address and visit.

Try hooking up with other webmasters; they may be interested in promoting your website on their own if you agree to advertise their website on yours in return.

Each of these is an effective tool in promoting your website; together, their benefits are even better. Remember, websites that are informational, user friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and keyword rich are going to gain, and retain, the most traffic.

Insider Tips to Internet Marketing Success

Insider Tips to Internet Marketing Success
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

There are a lot of people who have an online business but not all of them become successful. Some end up loosing their money. In order for a business to become successful the person/persons involved in it should know the proper business handling. They should know how to make their websites popular so that there would be a lot of costumers who would want to visit it.

There are Tips on How to Make your Internet Marketing Successful

1. There are a lot of affiliate programs that you can use. People fail because they do not have the ability and proper knowledge to market their affiliates.

2. Familiarize yourself with all the features in your website. In order for you to start selling or promoting something online you should understand first all the functions of your website.

3. Build a subscriber’s list and use an auto responder for your newsletters and other information that your subscribers would want to know. There are sites which you can have a list of e-mail addresses. You can also inform the all people whom you already know and ask them if they want to sign up on your website.

4. Write articles about your website. This will help you get a spot on the search engines. Always keep it informative as possible. Do not write negative articles about your rivals in the business, it is not a good attitude though. Use familiar keywords to begin your titles.

5. Offer incentives to your subscribers. You can have a promo, ex. If they sign up they can win something or if they refer your website to someone else they will get discounts or rewards. It will make them interested in signing up.

6. Be ready for different comments and questions that people might say. Just always be polite. People might accuse you of being a scammer or whatever but the most important is that you will always be able to defend yourself with any comments that are trying to put you down.

7. Get a forum for your websites so that people with the same interest would keep coming back to your site.

8. Use search engines to look for the right website that can host your ad. Always choose the top search engines. Learn the strategy of pay per click, by using pay per click you can get traffic to your website. Link your ads to world's most visited sites like Yahoo. Ex. Placing ads and paying the website that you link your ads to it would only cost you a little amount of money compared to the traffic and the benefits that pay per click can do for your website.

Building Residual Income

Building Residual Income
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

What is a residual income?

Residual income is a type of income that’s lasting. It means you don’t have to work all your life to earn money, with little effort; you can sit at the comfort of your own home and earn money.

The internet is one of the fastest growing markets for different kinds of businesses. Imagine you can target costumers from almost anywhere in the world. There are also a lot of payment options online. No matter what country you are from there is always an opportunity for you.
Here are some ideas you can do to generate a good paying site.

1. Create ebooks. You can get more profits if you publish it yourself. However there are certain advantages if you let publishers market your book. Publishers know a lot of sites where they can place it because they have more experience. Ebooks are easy to download, you only have to create one and anyone can download it even when you’re not there as long as they pay for it or as long as they’re subscribed. Of course there are certain rules that you have to follow like getting ISBN number for your book.

2. Create downloadable learning tools like CD. If you are an expert on something and you would like to use your expertise to educate people then creating downloadable tools is just perfect for you. You can make a class wherein people learn through listening to your voice and you can charge them to pay for it. If customers like you, they will just keep coming back.

3. Create a blog that is supported by paid advertisements. Write anything that interests you. You can also link your blogs to other programs that offers site traffic. An example is the Google AdSense. It is very easy to set-up an account. It is available worldwide. They pay for every click on your blogs’ ads. Payments vary according to the type of advertisements that shows on your ads. However there are certain keywords that can attract advertisers to bid for a place in your blog. Just always bear in mind that do not click your own ads because it is a violation. If they learn about it the AdSense team will automatically terminate your account.

4. Participate in affiliate programs. Create a site that will help you campaign for your affiliates. You can visit different affiliate links and some of them don’t require membership fees.

5. Make an online magazine. You can get people to subscribe, participate in the forums and submit articles for you. You can publish it monthly, quarterly, whichever you like.

Blogs Bring In More Traffic

Blogs Bring In More Traffic
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

They’re popping up everywhere. Your favorite website has one. Your favorite television show has one. Even your teenager has one. Blogs. What are they? Why are they everywhere you look?

Most simply put, blogs are like journals — only, instead of being made of the paper and cardboard kept secret by an even thinner piece of cardboard and a lock your baby brother frequently opened with a paperclip, these journals are online. Why does it seem like everyone has one? Well, because almost everyone does. And there’s good reason. Blogs can be used as journals, both private and public; they can be used as ways for fans to discuss the latest episode of their favorite sitcom; or, they can be used by major companies, especially those that are Internet-based, because unlike the traditional forms of advertising, blogs bring in more traffic.

For business purposes, there are many ways companies use blogs. For example, a company may have several blogs on its website, each one dedicated to something different: customer concerns, product updates, etc. In addition to being helpful to customers and other website visitors, these blogs bring in more traffic to the website, as well. Depending on the website, more traffic usually means more money. And more money means — that’s right — you’re on your way to that summer home in the Hamptons!

So, how exactly do blogs bring in more traffic and money? Well, AdSense ads with Google are a good starting point. The search engine visits your page more each time you update, ultimately moving your blog higher and higher on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) and leading to more revenue from the ads being represented in your blog.

Some pointers? First, the blogger will need to decide what he or she is going to write about. Choose a popular topic, one that people are interested in. “Underwater Basket Weaving” probably wouldn’t be a very wise choice as not many people seem to be interested in it. Unless, of course, you’re business is underwater basket weaving, in which case you should by all means write about it. Next, focus on some keywords — these are the words that search engines are going to pick up on. Don’t dowse your blog in these words, but use them whenever you effectively can. Lastly, make sure you write content that will attract, and keep, a strong readership. You want your readers to keep coming back, right?

Go ahead, join the millions of people and businesses alike. Get yourself a blog. Or corner your boss and suggest writing one for your company. Explain how blogs bring in more traffic, more traffic means more money, and more money means — that’s right again! — you’re on your way to the Hamptons.

4. Promote your website and continue to add subscribers to your list.

5. Create a newsletter that goes out every week. Remember this is going to your niche market so be sure to include quality information and earn the trust of your visitor list.

Advertising Your Work At Home Business Opportunity

Advertising Your Work At Home Business Opportunity
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

The business world is changing, and we are seeing the rapid rise of people who are wanting to work at home. Some companies are looking to make their employees sub-contractors because they want to pay less benefits. The economy and natural disasters have affected others. As a result, more and more people are looking to start a home business of their own.

There probably never has been a greater opportunity to start a home business opportunity than now. With the internet giving access to the world, the possibilities are nearly endless. A store-front is no longer needed, unless you are dealing with a large quantity of product. And because it is in your home, thousands of dollars can be saved each year.

Every business will provide one of two different things to the potential customer. It will be either a product, or a service. But either one must have advertising in order for the customer to know about what you offer. Your work at home business opportunity will succeed or fail based on this one factor. This article will seek to provide some quick ideas about how to advertise your business by using the internet.

Google Adwords

This is probably one of your best promotional tools for every dollar that is spent. This will require some study in selecting the right keywords to use in the google program. There is a cost per click - every time someone clicks on your ad, you pay a few cents, which is predetermined by you. Although effective, it will take a lot of watching to be able to get it right, and to keep it there.

Submit To Search Engines

Various websites will submit your website information, with your keywords, to multiple search engines. Some sites will submit your information to over 75 search engines - for free. For a rather small fee, this number can be multiplied many times. These will get the word out to the most popular engines, including google and yahoo. A number of search engines will take more than three weeks to list your site.

Create A Newsletter

This one will allow you to "get your list" of potential customers. Before you send out any illegal spam, however, it is important to get their approval for you to send them something. This is one way to be able to weekly email your customers - and in most cases, you can do it for free.

Write Free Articles

Write an article on your niche subject (the theme of your web page), and submit it to websites that distribute free web content. If written well, these will be picked up by other marketers and displayed on their site. Of course, you require that your name and website address must remain attached at the bottom. This is free advertising, and it is possible to be posted around the internet.

If you look around the internet, there are many other ways to get the word out about your business. Add some new ones regularly and see what gets the best results.

Mark Joyner knows 'All your base are belong to us.'

Mark Joyner has just opened up his re-designed blog at MarkJoyner.name I found his first post on the new blog very interesting and funny too.

In his post he uses a quote that is quite popular in geek-culture: "All your base are belong to us." It's taken from the opening cut-scene of the English version of the Japanese video game Zero Wing (more on Wikipedia) and because that translation was so poor many found it funny and it has been used for all kinds of occasions - especially in multiplayer computer games. I guess Mark Joyner is a bit of a geek :)

Well, because he's Mark Joyner you can find all kinds of viral tools on his blog (which reminds me, I have to put more viral stuff on this blog). At the end of each post there is a simple "Email This to a Friend" form. There is also a "Tell-Friends" button that opens up a form where you can e-mail 3 friends about this post - and another button to e-mail the post (using a basic mailto: link). You can of course also subscribe to his newsletter, bookmark it on various social networks, subscribe to his RSS feed, etc...

Also, because he's a top-class copywriter he always leaves you "hanging" after each post - you always end up wanting more and you can't wait to check out his blog again to see what "secret" he's going to reveal ;)

I like this design much better than his old one. This one is much cleaner and maybe a bit more "friendly" - it's a very nice color scheme that he chose.

Why Information Is The Greatest Commodity In The World

Why Information Is The Greatest Commodity In The World
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

There are so many reasons why information is the greatest commodity in the world. Information helps people. It spreads the knowledge of topics and subjects. It is the basis for every study, occupation, and hobby. The most important reason why information is the greatest commodity in the world, a reason that effectively sums up all others, is simple—everyone needs information.

Who provides information? Experts, or just people who seem to know a great deal about a certain subject, provide information about a subject to those of us who have limited experience with it. Face it—there is no single person in this world who knows everything, though some may think so! Eventually, everyone has to ask questions and seek answers to matters they do not understand. And since it seems everyone knows something, providing information throughout the world is easy.

You can find information everywhere. The Internet is one of the fastest, most inexpensive ways to obtain information about an innumerable wealth of subjects. Search engines are extremely useful, as are specialty websites. Offline sources include schools, libraries, and people themselves. Ever gotten a lecture from your dad on the importance of changing your oil regularly? Guess what—he was providing information.

Since information is the greatest commodity in the world, profiting from it can be easy. Consider teachers, for example. Their main business is to provide information to students, sometimes all year long. Book authors, website owners, and even religious figures are all trying to provide information of some sort.

Making it your business to provide information, when correctly executed, will be profitable for years to come. The need for information is not a trend, and it will not go out of style. Since we know why information is the greatest commodity in the world, we also know why it will continue to be just that. Whether you provide your information on or offline, you can earn income and even make a living.

Put Signature Files to Work for You

Put Signature Files to Work for You
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

Using signature files to market your home business is a both extremely informative and inexpensive. Simply defined, a signature file is a little blurb at the end of your submission that contains information about you and your business. They are most popularly used at the end of emails and at the end of a post to a forum or newsgroup. (With the latter, however, you must always check the Terms and Conditions—some forums and newsgroups that are moderated frown on or prohibit self-promotion.)

It is suggested that six lines be the absolute limit when using signature files to market your home business. Six lines may not seem like enough to describe how wonderful you and your business are, but when used to their fullest potential, your point will be loud and clear. Keep in mind you want a combination of both business promotion and all important contact information. Find a way to include your name, title, business/company name, contact numbers (phone and/or fax), and/or the address of your website, as well as a advantage or two offered by your business/company and maybe even a catchy tagline. The following is a good example of a signature file:

LeeAnn Gilman
Owner, Gilman’s Dust Bunnies
“If you’ve got a mess, we clean the best!”
(555) 555-555
gilman@dustbunniescleaners.com
www.dustbunniescleaners.com

Remember, you do not have to spend too many lines promoting your business, just as you don’t have to include every contact number and address. Once potential customers or clients visit your company website they will have access to much more information about your business and several different ways to contact you or another employee.

If you are on a budget, using signature files to market your home business is an ideal tactic in promoting yourself. Stick one onto the end of every email and possibly every post and you will be well on your way to getting your company out there in the public’s eye!

Now you can find out if AdSense advertisers are targeting your site

To find out if AdSense advertisers are targeting your site
I just got an e-mail from the Google AdSense team with some news; like the addition of AdWords, etc.

What I found especially interesting was that now I can see if advertisers are choosing to target their ads to my specific site.

In the e-mail they said:

To see what types of ads are showing on your site, visit your Advanced Reports page. From there, choose AdSense for content as the product, show data by 'Individual Ad Unit' and click the checkbox marked Show data by targeting type - contextual or site. When you generate your report, you will see a new column for Targeting Type.

I ran that report and found out that some advertisers are actually targeting their ads to my site specifically - and have been since September 16, 2005. I'm not sure what advertisers want to advertise on my site - but I have a guess.

I actually took out the "Advertise on this site" option off all my AdSense units some time ago because I really don't have any super high-traffic websites that big advertisers would be interested in - also, because that extra "Advertise on this site" link might lower my CTR.

It looks like the ads targeted to my site aren't pulling in higher click-through rates than the other contextual ads, nor higher eCPM - but I trust that Google will display ads on my sites that would make me the most money ;)

Now you can also get a better report of your referral clicks - see if anybody has downloaded Firefox with Google toolbar through your link, joined AdSense or AdWords.

When You’re at Home with Your Business

When You’re at Home with Your Business

http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

There is a plethora of information important to know when running a home business. Whether you are considering running a home business, have just started, or have been in the business for some time, you need to stay up to-date with key ideas and tips for running a home business. Below are just a few of the many ideas and tips to get you started.

1. Make sure you check into registrations and licenses, taxation, and insurance for your home business. If this seems foreign to you, find someone knowledgeable in each area.

2. Run your home business as professionally as you would any other business. Because you are working from home does not mean you can slack! Remember to set aside space for an office and for working; choose regular (or semi-regular) work hours; invest in a separate phone line and answering machine/service; get a fax machine if you do not already have one, and if you do, make sure you have one that can be used solely for business purposes; create a business letterhead and type all correspondences and envelops; and, dress appropriately.

3. Dress appropriately? Yes. Potential customers or clients are more likely to take you and your business seriously if you are dressed professionally. When deciding on how to dress appropriately and professionally, consider your line of work and how often you come into personal contact with your clients.

4. Make sure you promote yourself and your business. When running a home business, take into consideration all advertising possibilities within your reach. You may want to purchase web space, create business cards, and link up with other related business websites and useful ways of networking.

Effectively running a home business can be difficult, especially if you are just starting out. As with any business, you should research and plan accordingly. Taking care of legal matters, being professional, dressing appropriately, and promoting yourself will get you on the right track.

Make a Fortune on The Internet

Make a Fortune on The Internet
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

Do you want to make a fortune on the Internet? Sure, we all do. People use the Internet to work from home everyday, and many of them earn a living from it. But is it really possible to make a fortune on the Internet?

Well, that depends on what your idea of a fortune is. If working from the Internet allows you to pay your bills, put food on the table, gas in the car, and clothes on Little Johnny’s back, then yes, it is indeed possible to make a fortune on the Internet. However, if you are thinking in numbers closer to the upper hundreds of thousands, millions, and even billions then the likelihood of being able to make a fortune on the Internet is probably not too great. Not impossible, mind you (think Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Pierry Omidyar of Ebay, and David Filo of Yahoo!—all are worth billions of dollars today), just not too great.

Many websites claim to be able to help you make a fortune on the Internet. Be careful with these. Usually they are scams that try to get you to purchase materials and equipment for something that won’t be successful, if it even exists. They’ll throw ridiculously high numbers at you, promising you can make that amount if you follow their plan. Some websites, however, are very clear in their definition of what a fortune is. For example, if you visit a website that claims you can make a fortune on the Internet buy completing online surveys at twenty-five dollars each, you’re probably safe. They are honest about the money you would make, and you are smart enough to know that unless you complete thousands of surveys a month, you aren’t going to be able to make a fortune on the Internet using this plan. But if you need some extra cash for the holidays, go for it.

Your dream to make a fortune on the Internet is similar to the dreams of so many others. And, though it’s not an impossible dream, it’s not an easily possible one, either. Have patience, do research, and most importantly, come up with something bigger than Yahoo!

Internet Marketing On a Budget

Internet Marketing On a Budget
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

It is probably safe to say that the most important, least expensive marketing tool you possess when it comes to Internet marketing on a budget is your time—the time you spend and the time you wait.

The more time you have to devote to marketing your product, or service, the more your name, or business, will be out there. Whether you create a very detailed website or simply run a blog about your product or service, who is going to take the time to check it out if you have not invested the time it takes to really promote it?

Once you figure out your target audience, or customer base, use these three effective and inexpensive tricks to Internet marketing on a budget: article submissions, newsgroups or forums, and online classifieds. Each of these is either inexpensive or completely free. When using article submissions and newsgroups or forums remember not to be pushy in promoting your article. Briefly mention your important business in your articles (which do not have to be based on your business itself), and approach members of newsgroups and forums in a friendly manner. Also, be sure to read the rules and regulations of each newsgroup and forum to make sure you are allowed to promote yourself. When using online classifieds, make sure to use a variety of headings that are both professional and intriguing and repost frequently.

Also equally vital is the time you wait to reap the rewards of your marketing. Perhaps your business will be booming after just a couple of weeks; if so, good for you! However, it’s important to remember that the results of your Internet marketing efforts may even take a couple of months to show. When this is the case, do not get discouraged.

Though it may seem difficult, Internet marketing on a budget is indeed possible. If done properly, the potential for effective marketing within the means of a budget is great.

Climbing to the Top of the Search Engines

Climbing to the Top of the Search Engines
Copyright © Hannes Johnson
http://www.WorkAtHomeMadeEasy.net

Have you ever had a friend call you and say, “Hey, I googled myself today and actually found me!” Cool, you think. You go to your computer and try to google your friend as well. Nothing comes up. You tell her. “Oh, well, you have to click “next” at the bottom of the page. Keep clicking that until you’re on like, the forty-seventh page—do you see me yet?!” Of course, just keep clicking “next,” why didn’t you think of that?

You didn’t think of it for the same reasons millions of other people searching the Internet don’t think of it. They’re either in too much of a hurry to pay attention to anything after the first results page, or they’ve come to believe that anything after the first results page isn’t as interesting or helpful.

Getting your website and business on search engines is a good way to help promote yourself, but getting to the top of the search engines is where you want to be. After all, people aren’t going to keep clicking until they find your site on the forty-seventh page. People don’t even know they’re looking for your site. It’s your job to put it out there so it’s easy for them to find, and one way you can do this is by getting to the top of the search engines.

Before you submit your website to a search engine you want to first make sure your site is rich in content and that you are avoiding all spam and html tricks. Then, once you’re listed, keep these keep points in mind:

-the higher your number of inbound links, the better
-pay loving attention to each page of your site
-keeping keywords at the top of your page is the best place; matching search phrases is more effective than matching single words
-elaborate graphics are not helpful

Once you’ve been successful in getting to the top of the search engines, you must keep working to keep yourself there. It is crucial to monitor your status on a regular basis, and pick up the step if your position on search engine result pages starts to slip.
