If you've read anything about search engine marketing you know how important link popularity is. It is one of the fundamentals of the Google algorithm. That's why people try to exchange links with other, similar websites.
But how can you know how many websites are linking to you? You can go to each search engine and use their special "link:" code (or similar) and check your website. Or... you can us this very cool, free software: Link Popularity Checker. Download it here:

The link popularity checker is very simple, you just add the websites you want checked and it will return the count of the links to your site on AllTheWeb, AltaVista, Google/HotBot, Inktomi/HotBot, MSN Search, Teoma, Yahoo, your Alexa traffic rank and your total links.
You can also double-click a number and see the results from that search engine in your web browser.
You can check how you rank against your competitors or check which of your websites is doing best. Just test it out, it can actually be quite fun watching how you are doing. You could create an Excel spreadsheet and record your rankings every week or every month. You can actually use the Link Popularity Checker to export the results, just click the "Export..." button at the top.
Then if you're not satisfied with your results you can get a tool like ARELIS to help you increase your link popularity. More details about ARELIS here:
