I got a free Gmail e-mail address because of Google AdWords
A few minutes ago I got an invitation to open a free Gmail account because I'm a valued AdWords advertiser. Nice! I've been waiting to get a Gmail address for a long time.
I chose the address hannes.johnson( at-sign )gmail [dot-here] com because "hannes" was already taken. I think it's pretty nice and professional too :) That's one of the benefits of being among the first ones to try out Gmail - you don't have to use any crazy signs or numbers (like with Hotmail right now).
I've already looked over some of the Gmail features and it looks all very promising. It is very fast and pretty simple to use. The AdSense ads that are sometimes displayed to the right of your messages fit pretty well in with the layout and you barely notice them. The "conversation" system they use to sort the messages will probably be very helpful... and with 1000 MB of storage space it's really no need to delete any of my e-mail messages ;) A nice change from the 2 MB you get from Hotmail and the 6 MB you get from Yahoo. Hmm.. wait a minute, looks like Yahoo has increased their storage space to 100 MB to compete with Google. Still, you get ten times as much with Gmail.
If you are interested in getting a Gmail account yourself you can add your e-mail address here: http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/about.html#interest and they'll let you know. You could also set up an AdWords account and see if you will be as lucky as I was :)
